Cable subscribers across Chicago can now get the latest updates from the Windy City Times by picking up their remote instead of their mouse. Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV) is now featuring bite-sized posts from Windy City Media Group on its FYI Channel 27.
Windy City Media's Publisher Tracy Baim said this new partnership with CAN TV provides a unique opportunity to share their content with more people.
"By bringing our stories to cable television we can provide even more Chicagoans interested in LGBT issues with the latest news and insights," Baim said.
The short, slideshow-like presentations of the news are featured alongside other community news organizations and "news you can use" content produced by Chicago nonprofits. Nonprofit Services Coordinator Tiffany Bosley said CAN TV is working with Windy City Media Group and other community news organizations to share the valuable information they provide across the digital divide.
"Around forty percent of Chicago residents don't have Internet access, and many other cable viewers may not even know these resources are available," Bosley said. "We hope to change that."
Windy City Media Group (WCMG) produces Windy City Times, Nightspots, OUT! Resource Guide, and WindyCityQueercast.com . WCMG is the producer of these events: Windy City Gay Idol, Gays Got Talent, 30 Under 30 and the Windy City Times Theater Series. To download all of our products visit www.windycitymediagroup.com . Send questions to publisher@windycitymediagroup.com or call (773) 871-7610.
CAN TV provides coverage of events relevant to the local community and gives every Chicagoan a voice on cable television by providing video training, facilities, equipment, and channel time for Chicago residents and nonprofit groups. CAN TV's five local, noncommercial cable channels CAN TV19, 21, 27, 36 and 42 reach more than one million viewers in the city of Chicago.
