What would Sunday-Funday be without brunch, cocktails and fierce fashion? It wouldn't. That was the scene at the Chicago House Spring Brunch and Fashion Show at the Harold Washington Library May 2.
With more than 400 attendees, the event boasted a who's who amongst Chicago's LGBT community and its allies. And, this year's circus theme, coined "Cirque," showcased jugglers and performers on stilts as well as a dazzling runway show emceed by musician and comedian Amy Armstrong. Beyond the glitz and glamour, however, the fundraiser had a much more important purpose: To raise money to provide housing and support services to people affected by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, substance abuse and mental illness.
"This event and others like it helps people. The money we raise goes to serve people who may not qualify for a government contract, or who might otherwise fall through the cracks. We are so grateful for everyone's continued support for this vitally important organization," said Chicago House CEO the Rev. Stan Sloan. See www.chicagohouse.org .
