44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney promised during his campaign for alderman that he would sell his interest in four Ann Sather's
restaurants (a fifth is owned by his sister). Now Tunney has decided not sell, but instead he will get rid of the liquor licenses—state
law bans aldermen from having liquor licenses.
But part of the debate during the campaign was about being a 'full-time' alderman. Tunney said he believes the community,
which his business has supported for two decades, does not want him to sell.
