Campus Pride chose 30 schools this year for the 2021 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges & Universities List.
This list is based on the campuses overall ratings on the Campus Pride Index and specific LGBTQ-inclusive benchmark measures. In order to be in the "Best of the Best" listing, an institution had to score the highest percentages in the LGBTQ-friendly benchmarks for policies, programs and practices.
On the website, schools are listed by geographic region. In the Midwest region, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale cracked the listand was the only educational facility in the state to do so. Other Midwest entries include Kansas State University; Indiana University; the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire; the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay; and Ohio's Kenyon College and Kent State University.
Some of the other schools around the country named to Campus Pride's list are the University of Vermont, Northern Kentucky University, Texas Tech University, the University of Oregon, the University of Virginia and New Jersey's Montclair State University.
