News & Announcements
Evaluating salvage therapies for people living with HIV
As biomedical interventions, such as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis ( PrEP ) and treatment as prevention, move us closer to achieving HIV elimination in Chicago, clinical trials focusing on multi drug resistant HIV remain critical options for patients who have been living with HIV for decades. In 2018, we look forward to expanding patient access to these programs by making them more widely available at our clinic locations.
Empowering healthcare professionals across the Midwest
Last year we reached 913 health professionals across the Midwest through our continuing education curriculum for healthcare providers. Stay tuned for expanded curricula focused on gender affirming care in the year ahead.
Advocating for affordable and affirming healthcare
We are so proud to have joined our partners in critical campaigns to advance access to gender affirming identification, making the Illinois Birth Certificate Modernization Act and Chicago's Municipal ID program realities for our community. Stay tuned for new advocacy campaigns in 2018 and more information about how to access these important programs.
Testing innovative interventions across our networks
ERA is partnering with Northwestern University's Third Coast CFAR and Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing ( ISGMH ), University of Chicago's Center for HIV Elimination, Lurie Children's Hospital, AllianceChicago, and others on research projects that will help us answer vital questions in LGBTQ health. Over the next year, we plan to expand our research portfolio, testing community-driven interventions in four key areas: transgender health, cancer prevention, HIV prevention, and chronic disease management.
Upcoming Event
ERA's 2018 Symposium
Last year's Midwest LGBTQ Health Symposium was a huge success, bringing together experts from across the country to discuss critical issues in LGBTQ health. We hope you will join us for this year's Symposium on September 14th and 15th at the JW Marriott in downtown Chicago.
