The beverage company Molson Coors presented $50,000 to 14 LGBTQ+ organizations at Sidetrack Sept. 26 as part of its 11th annual Tap Into Change program.
Organizations partnered with local bars during the summer to raise money for the Tap Into Change fund. A portion of the profits from every Molson Coors drink sold at 14 participating locations June 1-Aug. 31 went toward the company's donation, according to a news release from the company.
"Each charity partnered up with one of our bars and helped make the program a success by spreading the word on social media and emailing their supporters," said Molson Coors Senior Manager of Community Affairs Michael Nordman. "It was great to bring back our signature summer program and see the ways different bars rallied behind the program, whether it was hosting a happy hour, putting up signs or sampling our latest programs."
Over the past 11 years, Tap Into Change has raised more than $750,000 for LGBTQ+ organizations across the country, the release added.
This year's donations will support Affinity Community Services, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Center on Addison, Chicagoland Exotic Animal Rescue, Leather Archives & Museum, Howard Brown Health, Legal Council for Health Justice, Legacy Project, Brave Space Alliance, Open Door Rehabilitation Center, Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago, Test Positive Awareness Network (TPAN) and Vital Bridges (Heartland Health Alliance).
"Molson Coors is so proud and thankful to our bars and nonprofit partners that did a great job supporting the program, and we can't wait to bring it back again next year," Nordman said. |
