OUTspoken—Chicago's Monthly LGBTQ Storytelling Night Celebrates 4 Years. August 7, 2018 commemorates the beginning of OUTspoken's fifth year.

August's evening of storytelling and celebration will include special moments and surprises for the always-supportive, engaged audience. This month's storytellers include Alexia Jasmeen, Bill Demaree, Shandee Ewert, Brian Michalski, Timothy Rey, Douglas OKeeffe, and Larry Dean Harris. Kim L. Hunt, Pride Action Tank, and Art Johnston, founder of Equality Illinois, serve as emcees for the event. David Fink is the Artistic Director and the show is currently curated by Moth Grand Slam Winner Archy Jamjun.

OUTspoken is a monthly storytelling evening presented at Sidetrack, 3349 North Halsted in Chicago. Storytellers identify as LBGTQ ( Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender, or Queer. ) And while all stories do not have sexuality or gender identity as their focus, all stories are told from the perspective of LGBTQ persons. Storytellers vary month to month. Once each year OUTspoken presents a night of storytelling from allies of the community.

OUTspoken occurs on the first Tuesday of every month from 6-9PM. Sidetrack opens at 6PM. Doors to the event open at 6:00 with the stories beginning at 7:00. While there is no charge for this event, it is 21 and older with ID.

This event has met with rave reviews:

"Such a fun and generous crowd, a wonderful place to tune in and be human together. What GREAT stories!"

-Elon Cameron

"The best story telling event in Chicago! I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone."

-Sanna Adlem

"Consistently great stories..and it's ground-breaking."

-WBEZ Afternoon Shift

OUTspoken has been featured in Lifeline Theater's Fillet of Solo Festival, and in Amy Bizzarri's 111 Places in Chicago That You Must Not Miss.

Opened in 1982 and now a Chicago institution, Sidetrack is an LGBTQ bar so everyone must be at least 21 years of age to enter.
