Woman Made Gallery presents 20th Anniversary Exhibition

CHICAGO — In celebration of its 20th Anniversary Woman Made Gallery (WMG) presents a group exhibition with works by 20 artists who have curated and juried past WMG shows, and WMG's Archives + Permanent Collection from July 13 to August 16, 2012. Celebrations include a reading on July 22, "Poets Who Open Doors" curated by Nina Corwin.

Artists represented in the "20 Jurors" exhibition are Laura Anderson Barbata, Karen Bondarchuk, Whitney Bradshaw, Cat Chow, Pritika Chowdhry, Melissa Jay Craig, Barbara Crane, Colette Gaiter, Fujiko Isomura, Indira Freitas Johnson, Julie Karabenick, Dorothy Simpson Krause, Leah Oates, Betsy Odom, Monica Ong, Joyce Owens, Catherine Blackwell Peña, Corinne D. Peterson, Mary Stoppert, and Kathleen Waterloo. Included are painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation and video works.

In addition to the "20 Jurors", WMG is exhibiting evidence of its 20-year service to women artists with a timeline of more than 300 exhibitions, and its Permanent Collection with work by Judy Chicago, Mary Ellen Croteau, Jan Brown Checco, Anne Elizabeth, Beatrice Fisher and other women who have exhibited at the Gallery.

The reception for the "20 Jurors" and "Archives + Permanent Collection" exhibitions is on Friday, July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.

On Sunday, July 22nd from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. WMG presents "Poets Who Open Doors" curated by the Nina Corwin. Featured readers include Kristy Bowen (dancing girl press), Shanny Jean Maney (the Encyclopedia Show), Jennifer Karmin (Red Rover Series), Emily Rose Kahn—Sheahan (Mental Graffiti, Real Talk Live), Johanny Vazquez Paz (Palabra Pura, Guild Complex) and Susan Yount (Arsenic Lobster, Chicago Poetry Bordello).
